In 1837 Edward Mote wrote a hymn on his way to work as a cabinet maker. Recently in my devotions this hymn came to mind, so I youtubed it.
A very modern version...
80's rock version...
Very Traditional...
Okay, not that I expect you to sit and listen or watch each one, but isn't it amazing how this song sings a truth that doesn't change no matter how different it is sung. I love that about our God, His Word, His Character, it does not change. Truths from way back are still relevant!
This song spoke to me this morning as I was thinking about us just arriving in here in Idaho about a year ago and from the moment, well even before we left, we faced storm after storm. Some real weather storms, we drove through a tornado! But mostly emotional storms. One of the things I take away from them is how much I generally stand on that sinking sand, and how I need to stand firm on the rock. I am learning slowly, but I can tell you even though I am still in storms, the wind does not seem to be blowing as hard!
