Off to School

Some of you may remember my post from February, Charter Schools, Magnet Schools, Home School, OH MY! , we got wait listed for all the top choices of schools and it came down to sending Paul to the local public school. (Which would not be a horrible choice, it is a very nice shiny new school) or homeschooling. At first we were pretty disappointed, BUT what it made Chris and I ask is what was most important for Paul. And it all comes back to God, we especially want in these early years for the foundation of everything we learn – from geography to history – to be centered around God’s beautiful redemptive plan.So how are we going to do that?
Home school!!!!

Back in February it was my last choice, through much prayer and fasting I have changed my mind and am very excited to take this on. This summer was the test if it could actually happen and though not everyday it happened but more then none and some days it wasn't so pretty  but we did it! Slowly we test the waters and start to slip into homeschooling. We are still open to some of the local co-ops in area and are looking into a good fit. The possibilities for homeschooling from curriculum to methods to how you want creation taught will send your head spinning. But the one thing I keep hearing from God is to keep it simple. I am not trying to raise the smartest children on the planet, but rather that our children would first love the Lord, desire to serve Him, love to learn, respect and steward God’s creation.

So excited for you. I will be praying as you take on this fun, exciting and sometimes exasperating task. Love, Aunt Cherie

My sister homeschooled for a long time, and what I got from her is having a network of other homeschoolers isimmensely important. So, good luck to you, I think you will do great!
