As you can tell by my posts I have been thinking about being southern a lot lately. I think I Figured out what it takes to be southern:
1. A pick up truck...the bigger the better!
2. Parking that pick up truck on your front lawn
3. To gossip you say, "Jenny, bless her heart, just had another baby." then it is not gossip you see?
4. Grits, Gravy, and Biscuits
5. Large, big, and more for everything you do
6. Willingness to stop and talk to everyone everywhere
7. Use southern idioms, like, Be like the old lady who fell out of the wagon. (you aren't involved, so stay out of it) or Every dog should have a few feas. (no one is perfect)
8. And don't forget Y'all!

TeeHee! I read that one about "bless her heart" somewhere just recently, too! I know from when we lived in Chapel Hill, NC, that the South is a cultural experience for us Northerners. Here's another thing you should add: It was the "War of Northern Aggression" NOT the "Civil War." I can't tell you how many times I felt like I was on the outside looking in when North vs South came up. Whoowee!!
Do you realize that on your profile, you give your age as 250?!? Too funny!!
Keep a running list of those southern-isms; we did the same thing when we went to Australia, and it was a hoot! :-D
yikes I am in trouble!:)
