Experiencing Some Southern Hospitality

Whoever says that The South is not different then the North is wrong. It is very different. This week Chris has a seminary class at Asbury Theological Seminary in Wilmore, Kentucky. Paul and I decided to tag along. Wilmore is a small town about 30 minutes south of Lexington. To get here you have to take a scenic byway that is only 2 lanes wide with no shoulders that winds around the rolling curving landscape. You really feel like you are going the wrong way. Not many signs, and only cows or horses to ask for directions. Then appears this cute old town where every telephone post has a hanging flowering basket, a historc downtown, and Asbury. I think it would be nice to live here. Feels like you are in the middle of nowhere, but city is not too far away. Paul and I have enjoyed taking in the town, walking around and looking at all the great old houses, the wonderful front porches with, of course, porch swings. I love old houses, give me an old house over a mega-masion urban sprawl house any day!Kentucky is full of history and tomorrow Paul and I will will be visiting an old fort, weather permiting.

Pictures to come when I get home. And more about our adventures.

Cars actually stop when you are in the crosswalk or about to enter!!
